About me

I’m Justine Hyde. You can follow me on Twitter. If you’d like to know more about my professional background, skills and experience, check out my LinkedIn profile. I also upload some of my talks to Slideshare

My day job is Director, Library Services and Experience at the State Library Victoria. In my spare time, I do some writing and have been published in The Age, Women’s Agenda, Wheeler Centre Dailies, The Melbourne Review and many library journals.

Thanks for visiting hub & spoke. On this blog, I write about the topics that interest and inspire me such as libraries, digital technology, books and writing. I occasionally stray into random ponderings on other topics and I sometimes share my writing. Melbourne gets a plug too. Fourteen years ago, I moved from Sydney and traded sandstone, frangipani trees, Thai food and beaches for bluestone, roses, Lebanese food and laneways.

I hope you enjoy my blog. You can subscribe, leave comments, and share my posts via social media. I would love to hear from you.

I also enjoy the chance to evangelise about libraries, or talk about books and writing. I have spoken at many conferences, appeared in the media and participated in and chaired sessions at festivals. Recent gigs have included ALIA, VALA, M Pavilion, Remix, PauseFest, Pivot Summit, Melbourne Writers Festival, Emerging Writers Festival, Digital Writers Festival, Experimenta, Vancouver Public Library and Auckland Public Library. Please get in touch if you would like to ask me about speaking at an event.
